Web Design & Development
(They work perfectly together like Donny and Marie or peanut butter and jelly.)
WordPress: Think of WordPress as the bones or the structure of your website. It’s safe, secure, easy to use and learn, it’s optimized for SEO, it’s free, has tons of support, you can blog (can’t do that on every CMS, I know… crazy, huh?), have multiple users, really the sky’s the limit with what you can do (yes, I could go on). It’s the #1 content management system that YOU can edit and control. Need to edit some copy? Done. Need to replace an image or create a new page? No problem.
Thesis: Thesis is a premium WordPress theme. If WordPress is the bones, your theme (Thesis) is like the heart, lungs, and other vital organs all working together and the pretty parts you see on the outside is the design, like the ball gown you wear. With Thesis you get options. Options to make your design look just the way you want. (You don’t have worry about showing up to prom with the same dress as someone else.) Options to make a one-of-a-kind, couture website fit for a queen (or king). AND…It’s responsive and SERIOUSLY optimized for SEO, performance, speed and makes Google happy *sounds of angels singing*. Here’s a quote from their site: “Thesis has everything you need to establish an authoritative website and dominate the search engines.” Wowzers huh?!
Think about it like this… let’s say it’s prom this Friday night. You got asked by your biggest crush and want to have the perfect, swoon-worthy hair (duh!). Would you go to a professional hairdresser who you KNOW will make you look perfectly gorgeous and everyone jealous of your glam do or would you let your little brother (the one with the mean-streak and the shears he just used to cut holes in a tin can) loose on your lovely tresses?
Easy one. You’d go with the pro, the one who’s got the experience, went through all the necessary training, has the perfect professional tools and knows how to use them.
But, “I have a special circumstance” you say? Your company has a certain platform (like Adobe Muse) or you already bought a sexy, cool theme – then let’s talk. Give me the details in the Let’s Get Started form and we can discuss. Just know in advance, that if I’m not familiar with (*insert your special circumstance here*) and have to learn my way around, it could end up costing more in time and money and remember, you’d be missing out on the experience too. It would be like sending your hairdresser back to school (in France) to learn how Marie Antoinette’s ladies did her hair for different royal occasions. 1st: Why? 2nd: It’ll take time to learn, there could be a language barrier, and the possibility of using old techniques that could damage your hair. Horror!
Get the picture? Same thing with web design, let the designer pick their tools knowing you’ll get the very best. That’s why they’ve done a zillion hours of school, gone thru the bumps and training, earned all of the experience badges, they’ve learned what works, what doesn’t and what to use when and where – just so you can look pixel perfect! Oooo, merci beaucoup!
Web Hosting: Your web host is the place (the server) where your website lives. Hosting prices range from $80 to $180 a year ($4 – $8+ a month). I HIGHLY recommend both Green Geeks and SiteGround for web hosting. Why? For their BLEEPING AWESOME customer service, unlimited domains (you can have more than 1 web domain on the same hosting account), ability to create professional email addresses with your domain name (like firstname.lastname@example.org), unlimited storage and file transfer + some! And a special bonus (if you need it) they will actually move/migrate your whole site for free!
Domain Name: A domain name costs around $10 to $15 per year. When you sign up with SiteGround or GreenGeeks for hosting, your domain is FREE. If you already have a domain or web host and want to transfer to SiteGround or GreenGeeks, your transfer is free + they’ll help migrate everything at no charge too.
TIP: When you purchase a domain name, it’s so très intelligent (VERY SMART) to spend a little extra (only about $9.95 a year) to protect your personal information from spammers and other evil web trolls with Domain Privacy Protection.
Website Protection: 30 days after we launch your website, you’ll need to make a decision about ongoing protection. Your pixel perfect website is now live and out in the world! You’ve poured your heart into it, worked countless hours on it, spent sleepless nights from excitement… all to help your clients and grow your business. I have too! I’m as invested in your new website as you are and I want to make sure it’s properly cared for. I strongly believe my reputation is on the line as much as yours when it comes to the functionality, health and wellness of your website. Because of the extreme importance of protection and because hackers gonna hack, I’ve created the Golden Maintenance Package. A blazing strong, solid and superior package to monitor, backup, fix hacks or malware with super-power security + a ton MORE! Keep your uber important online home safe. I’ll take care of your website so you can take care of your business.
Domain and Hosting fees are paid directly to the vendors so that everything is in YOUR name. I will provide links and instructions on how and where to purchase these services. Some premium plugins may need to be purchased by clients directly from the vendors (i.e. photo gallery, ecommerce, event registration, appointment-setting, etc.), and I will advise when this is necessary.
You betcha! Just give me the details in the Let’s Get Started form and I’m happy to give you a custom quote.
Yes, I build responsive websites. When people visit your site from their ipad or cell phone it will magically (actually it takes a lot of work to make the magic happen but it’ll look like magic) adjust, transform and look perfectly delicious thanks to Thesis and ninja like coding.

30 days after your website launch you’ll have the option to purchase ongoing peace-of-mind security. Superior protection is crucial. Learn more about Got You Covered Website Management here, I’ll tell you why it so vitally important.

Fast & Fab Online Updates
1) Backup your website. This should be done on a regular basis and BEFORE you start making changes to your website. It’s risky doing updates without one!
If you’re not sure you have good, reliable backups or have a clue how to take care of this, I’m happy to give you a website review or if you’re worried, you should sign up for the Golden Maintenance Package.
2) Collect and organize your updates. Gather all of your images (high resolution), branding HEX color codes, and your FINAL copy. I’ll provide you with a form for sending your updates, images files and any instructions you have.
3) Give me your log-in information. If I’m helping you with your website, I’ll have you create a new user account for me. If I’m helping you with updates to your social media, MailChimp or other accounts, you’ll send me your log in details. I’ll provide you with instructions on how to do this.
It’s not me, it’s your theme. If your WordPress theme is a free theme, a theme that hasn’t been updated by the developer in 5 years or just a theme with limited functionality, it’s very possible that we won’t be able to do what you want.
Why? Well, most NON-premium themes have limited functionality. Meaning the developer (the guy or gal who built your theme) added minimal customization options only like the ability to change the color of your url links, font or button colors, header image or other simple design options or functionality. Be aware there could be limitations on what you’d like to do and what you’re able to do.
Things like not being able to change the page layout or the way your footer looks. But, if your website is sporting a premium theme like Thesis, you could be in luck! Upon inspection of your website, I will tell you all you need to know about where you stand, what you can and can’t do as well as my recommendations on what you should do (if any).
It could get expensive. You can only patch your roof so many times after too many hail storms before it would be less expensive to just put on a new roof. When you apply that logic to your website, add in things like: older themes might not work well with new development practices (meaning your old theme might not be able to function with new technology and could just break altogether), you could be shooting yourself in the foot with Google (Google likes updated themes, clean and free of viruses, a site that’s responsive + more) among other things.
Or maybe you want something that would involve a 1,000 hours of hard coding and a team of experts. Remember… Fast & Fab Online Updates is meant to be just that – quick updates to freshen up your online presence. A huge custom job out of the scope of this service would involve a custom quote.
1) Images: You provide your own images. These should be of good quality so you can look your very best!
- High resolution: Great light, clear (not blurry), high pixel count, etc. Usually at least 1MB in size.
- Correct sizes (or the largest size you have – I can help you re-size).
- Vector files of your logo and other images you’d like to use.
- Professional in nature: If you take photos yourself, use a good camera (no phone photos), have good lighting, make sure there are no distracting items in the photo (laundry, food, toys, etc).
- Images you have permission to use: These are images you’ve taken yourself or have (or purchased) the rights to use commercially.
If you need help finding images, I’m happy to help. Here are a few of my recommendations for finding professional, high quality images online:
2) Copy editing: You’ll provide me with your FINAL copy. I’m happy to make an edit or two if you find something you want to change within reason but lots of copy edits could be an additional charge to you.
You are responsible for editing your copy BEFORE sending it to me. Please be sure you do. Improper grammar or misspelled words look so un-pro.
3) Plugins or other service or software: This could include a special service you want to implement like Akismet for instance or a special plugin like PopupAlly Pro. You purchase, I install, configure, format and test.
Don’t worry if your have no clue what you’d need or what’s the best product for your project, this is the stuff I help you with! I’ll give you my recommendation on what would be best for your project along with the instructions on what/how to purchase.
